Not All Great Minds Think Alike.
Wishes of Literacy is a non profit organization that was formed in 2010 to help children with Dyslexia and similar Reading & Learning Differences.
Statistics tell us 1 in 10 children have dyslexia! Despite having average or above average intelligence, dyslexic children cannot learn to read in the traditional methods. These children require a specific type of instruction to learn to read successfully. The inability to read affects our children academically, socially, and emotionally.
Therefore, our mission is threefold; to raise awareness of dyslexia, to help parents and teachers through workshops, professional development, and support, and to help the children by providing tutoring, and bringing programs into our community, and in our schools. Eventually we would like to start a school specifically designed to support their learning needs and styles.
Each and every one of our children deserves the right to read.
